The Del Norte High School Esports team was recently featured on a KRQE news story about APS Esports. Due to COVID restrictions, most traditional sports have been canceled along with in-person classes. However, Del Norte students are able to continue playing Esports while maintaining distance requirements. Esports can be done virtually, so students are participating in games with other students and other schools across the state online.
Del Norte’s Esports club currently has 29 students. Younger students have fun, make friends, hone their skills, and some eventually join the varsity team. Two of Del Norte’s varsity Esports players are applying to UNM for esports scholarships.
