Carlos Romero, a 1988 graduate of Del Norte High School, has been honored with a 2025 New Mexico Ethics in Business Award, presented by Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). This annual award program recognizes individuals, for-profit businesses, and nonprofit organizations across New Mexico that exemplify the highest standards of ethical behavior in their daily operations, leadership practices, and responses to challenges.
Carlos is the founder and CEO of Apex Evaluation, an Albuquerque-based consulting firm that partners with organizations working to address issues such as poverty, income inequality, health and education disparities, and systemic discrimination. Apex Evaluation is committed to telling authentic and impactful stories grounded in credible data. Guided by a belief that ethics is rooted in equity and integrity, the company applies these values across all areas of its work—including employee support. In addition to offering a living wage and health insurance, Apex provides a four-day workweek and unlimited paid leave, fostering a diverse and talented team aligned with its mission.
Carlos also serves on the Board of Directors of the AlumKnights and chairs the Student Support Committee, which oversees the organization’s annual scholarship program.
