Janet Saiers is a founding member of the AlumKnights® and said in an interview with the Albuquerque Journal :“We are actively looking for Del Norte graduates who have achieved … journalists and educators, TV reporters and college professors, doctors and nurses. Janet Saiers has lived in Albuquerque since 1955. She is a graduate of Del Norte High School (Class of 1966 – the first class) and has a BA in English and MA in Public Administration from UNM. She taught English at the Moriarty Public Schools from 1970 to 1973 and was a planner with the City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation Department from 1973 to 2002. After retiring, she served on the board of Central NM Community College (formerly Albuquerque TVI) from 2003 to 2007. Janet was chairperson of the Albuquerque Tricentennial Education Task Force 2004 to 2006 which produced a 19 section Teachers Guide about Albuquerque. She served as an elected member of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA) board from 2005 to 2010 representing the older parts of the SE and NE heights. Janet is a past president of the Albuquerque Historical Society and is the current president of the New Mexico Historical Society.
